Style Edit: Parmigiani Fleurier releases new Tonda PF Sport Automatic and Sport Chronograph timepiec

However, the brand is not content to rest on its laurels. In June, Parmigiani Fleurier released four stunning pieces, giving us stainless steel and 18-carat rose gold versions each of the Tonda PF Sport Automatic and Sport Chronograph.

All four pieces feature Parmigiani Fleurier’s signature design language and elite finishing. The iconic knurled bezels comprise 160 incisions compared to the 225 on other Tonda PF bezels, which create a bolder play of light and reflection for a sportier design.

“The beauty of the sky is a constant source of inspiration for me,” says founder Michel Parmigiani in the brand’s release. “I am always in awe of its colours and the way the light changes throughout the day. This is something I try to capture in my watch designs, to create something that is both beautiful and timeless.”

The play of light is front and centre on the silver dials, all featuring a hand-guilloché “triangular nail” pattern which, when paired with the Tonda PF’s delta hands, is a feast for the eyes.

Applied hour markers are coated with black SuperLuminova, as well as an enthusiast-favourite “panda dial” colourway on the Sport Chronograph, which guarantee maximum legibility in both light and dark on all pieces.

Parmigiani Fleurier have not compromised on the watchmaking either. The Sport Automatic features the in-house Calibre PF770, while the chronograph features the Calibre PF070. Both high-beat chronometer movements are COSC-certified with 65 and 60 hour power reserves respectively, ensuring perfect timekeeping throughout a weekend of outdoor pursuits. The movements are hand-finished with bevelled edges, Côtes de Genève decoration and a 22-carat pink gold skeletonised rotor; with refined watchmaking on full display through sapphire exhibition casebacks on all pieces.

All of this is a lot of watch to come in 41mm for the Sport Automatic (HK$175,000 or US$22,300 for stainless steel and HK$313,000 for the rose gold respectively) and 42mm for the Sport Chronograph (HK$237,000 steel and HK$411,000 rose gold).

What’s more, the pieces come with discreet black cordura-treated rubber straps and 100 metres of water resistance, perfect for all occasions from the boardroom to a weekend getaway.

When all is said and done, what Parmigiani Fleurier have given us is an enduring, all-occasions set of pieces finished at the highest quality and built to stand the test of time. “The true luxury of a watch lies not only in its materials but also in the timeless emotions it evokes,” the founder added in a statement.

“[The] Tonda PF Sport timepieces,” CEO Guido Terreni concludes, “stand as ideal companions for those precious moments of personal freedom and pleasure”.
